Introducing Our Governors

Charlene Martin

Charlene has 14 years' experience in education and started her journey as a KS1 and KS2 primary teaching assistant. She joined a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) secondary school, trained as a KS2 and KS3 teacher and then became a Deputy Mathematics Lead in a mainstream Secondary school.

Charlene is now an accomplished Headteacher with four years robust experience in transformational school leadership. She specialises in Autism and SEMH. She has a strong commitment to inclusive education and a collaborative approach to fostering an environment where all students can thrive.

Bridget Day - Safeguarding/Wellbeing Governor

In 2019 I was asked if I would serve as the Safeguarding Governor for Beechview Academy.  As I had just retired after working as a social worker for Buckinghamshire for over 20 years, I was happy to accept.  I am so glad I did!  It has been a privilege to be part of the amazing team (staff, parents and governors) helping the school to provide a wonderful environment for all the Beechview children to learn and succeed.

In retirement, I am enjoying long walks with my dog, growing as many vegetables as I can squeeze into my garden, and singing in a local choir.  However, apart from my weekly visits to Beechview, the highlight of my week is visiting my little grandchildren in London.  Children are our future!

Alok Rustagi - GDPR & Development Governor

I am a tech industry professional with over 18 years of experience in data, analytics and technology. Currently, I lead European banking practice for a large international consulting organisation. I am passionate about leveraging data and technology to drive meaningful change.  Alongside my professional pursuits, I enjoys running, listening to music, and indulging in occasional culinary experiments.

I also serve as a trust member on the board of a charity (Jimmy's) in Cambridge, helping them use technology and data to create better outcomes for their residents and other stakeholders. I joined the local governing board at Beechview Academy in 2023.

Jenny Hopper - Curriculum & Academics Governor

I have 25 years experience in education, 6 years in primary (music) in Maidenhead and 19 years in secondary as an MFL teacher in Buckinghamshire. I'm now semi-retired, but still working as a teacher-trainer and mentor. I've also been a governor at primary and middle schools in Windsor and Maidenhead and a secondary school in Bucks. I'm looking forward now to being able to spend more time getting to know and support the great Beechview community.

Emma Meeking - Parent Governor/ Communication

Currently an LSA in another local primary academy, I joined the board of governors as a parent governor at Beechview Academy when my son first joined in 2019. With my daughter also now at Beechview, I have a continued interest in the school's development and communication with parents to continue supporting the school to ensure a happy learning environment.
