Bucks School Nursing Team (SNT)
The School Nursing Service supports children and young people from ages 5 to 19 in mainstream school as part of the Healthy Child Programme (D.H 2009).
They are led by specialist community public health nurses (SCPHN) who are all qualified nurses or midwives with additional graduate-level training in the health needs of children and young people. Supporting the SCPHNs are a team of highly skilled community staff nurses, child health and wellbeing assistants, and school health assistants.
The SNT can support with the following areas:
- Resilience and emotional wellbeing
- Sleep and routines
- General advice for delayed toileting issues
- Healthy lifestyles
- Healthy relationships
- Attendance support with long term medical conditions
- Hearing assessment
- Individual Puberty advice and support
- Secondary school transition
- Parental separation / conflict
